Google has launched its own digital media platform with more than 50 million subscribers
Google has created its own website with more “digital assets” than the top 10 Internet search engines combined, the company said Wednesday, the first official sign that the online search giant is trying to reach new audiences beyond its core business.
Google said the platform, called Google+ , has more than 100 million monthly users, which includes “over half a billion unique visitors” each month, more than all the Internet search giants combined.
The company didn’t provide a number for the number of users.
It has said it will add other Google+ features in the coming months.
Google+ is the latest attempt by Google to broaden its reach, with the launch of a YouTube-like video-sharing service called YouTube Red last year and the launch last year of its own streaming-video service, Google+ Video, which lets users post videos directly to YouTube and get paid to watch them.
